About Roam: the UK van life app by Josh and Jenny

Short answer: Roam is a UK van life app for campervans and motorhomes, from weekend trips to full-time living. It is built by Josh and Jenny, a couple who converted their own van and travel the UK in it. The build tools, garage and van recipes are in the app now in early access. Ready-made routes, van-aware trip planning, a places to stay map and community features are coming, with launch planned for 2026.

Who we are

We are Josh and Jenny. We converted our own van, and we travel the UK in it. Everything in Roam comes from things we needed, got wrong, or wished someone had told us, from sizing the cables in our electrics to finding somewhere to cook a proper dinner on two gas rings.

We share the van life side of things on TikTok as @ihearttravel and on Instagram as @vanillavans.

Why we are building Roam

When we built our van, the information we needed was scattered across forums, spreadsheets, videos and group chats. Working out a power budget meant one website, cable sizes another, and keeping track of what we had spent was a notes app and a pile of receipts. Once we were on the road, the questions changed (where can we stay, will we fit under that barrier, what can we cook tonight) but the scattering didn't.

Roam is our attempt to put it all in one place, built for UK roads and UK rules, and honest about what it can and can't do yet.
