There had to be a better way.
Generic apps don’t know your van is 2.9 metres tall or runs off a 200Ah battery. So we started building the thing we wanted.

What the van build video shows: the power budget picker (fridge, diesel heater, laptop and lights add up to 860 Wh a day), the whole electrical system with solar, DC-DC charger, leisure battery and inverter, the cable size and fuse for every wire, the cable size calculator, and the other build apps: build expenses, build photo book, measurements, build tips, things to use and not to use, and kit picks.

Where are you parked tonight?
UK campsites, stopovers, fuel and routes that understand a van. Not another generic maps app that sends you down a single-track lane.
What the trips video shows: ready-made UK routes such as the North Coast 500 (516 miles, five to seven days, anti-clockwise from Inverness), van-aware warnings like the Bealach na Bà pass for vans over 6.5 m with the coast road instead, fuel stops, trip expenses from scanned fuel, food and campsite receipts, and saving a route to use offline. These features are coming next.

What is Roam?
Roam is a UK van life app for people who travel in a campervan or motorhome, from a first weekend away to living on the road full-time. It is made by Josh and Jenny, who converted their own van and travel the UK in it. The van build tools are already built: an electrics planner, a 12V cable size calculator, build expenses with receipt scanning, a build photo book, MOT and road tax reminders, van recipes with one shopping list, and kit picks. Next come ready-made UK routes like the NC500, trip planning that knows your van’s size, trip expenses and meetups. Roam launches in 2026 and people on the waitlist get early access first.
